August 24, 1934

She supported a virtual forest of organizations, so this tribute seems only fitting.

On this day in 1934, the Florence Gray Estey forest was dedicated in Addison. The DAR wanted to memorialize Florence Gray Estey, who had passed away the year before.

Estey was a well-known for her contributions to society. She lived in Brattleboro and had been a charter member of the Brattleboro DAR chapter, providing financial support and expertise.

She had been instrumental in building the Constitution and Continental Halls in Washington, D.C. and donated to numerous Brattleboro organizations and charities. Estey was also president of the American Red Cross Brattleboro branch during World War One.
