1893

They say that cream rises to the top. At the Goose Green creamery, it appears to be true.

The first creamery to operate in Corinth opened on this day in 1893. As hand separators became available to farmers in the 1890’s, local co-operative creameries became common.

Butter, milk, cream...farmers could now bring milk from the farm to their local creamery. Local creameries could produce a diversity of dairy products and service local and regional clientele, and often became known for some specialty.

The Goose Green creamery in Corinth became famous for the high quality butter and cream it produced. It was said that Goose Green cream was so rich and thick, a dollop on shortcake didn’t even need whipping!
