Merrill Mears and his wife were searching desperately in Marshfield
on this day in 1913. Their three year old son had wandered away
from home, and was still missing.
It
turns out the little guy decided to walk along Cabot road, heading
toward Cabot village. Little did his parents know, that their three
year old son had the stamina to walk almost six miles!
He
got as far as the Walter Ford place in Lower Cabot, before his distraught
parents were able to catch up to him. The boy had disappeared from
home around 10 o’clock in the morning, and this impromtu,
roadside family reunion took place at 3 in the afternoon!
