Abram Hatch was born in Lincoln on this day in 1830. He grew up
on a farm in Vermont, attending local schools.
When
Hatch was ten, Elder Peletiah Brown came to the area to tell people
about “Mormonism.” The Hatch family joined the church,
significantly impacting young Abram’s life.
In
1867, Brigham Young called upon Hatch to preside as Bishop over
Wasatch county, Utah. Hatch made Wasatch county a prosperous and
popular location.
When
settlements were organized into a Stake of Zion, Hatch was voted
in as president. Hatch, also a Utah Legislator, became a crucial
member of the Mormon movement.
