Luther
Wilcox and Lucinda Dean were getting married on this day in 1807.
It was the first marriage to take place in the town of Morgan, Vermont.
The
village center, just up the hill from Seymour Lake, was the perfect
spot for a summer wedding. Luther Wilcox was from Morgan and Lucinda
Dean was from Grafton, New Hampshire. Eber Robinson presided over
the joyous ceremony.
1807
was proving to be a big year for Morgan. Just four months earlier,
residents had held the first Mogran town meeting, and in just over
a month from this day, townspeople would select their first state
representative.
