1929

Grounded and under cover in Burlington! There’s a brand new place to store your plane.

On June 1, 1929, work crews put the finishing touches on a major project at the Burlington Airport. It was on this day that a hangar was completed to house planes.

The large rectangular building with a rounded eye-brow roof, could accomodate six flight-ready planes or ten planes that were prepped for storage. The completion of the hangar was a great accomplishment, enhancing services at an airport that wasn’t quite eight years old.

Cars lined the sides of the hangar, as people came to inspect the new building. It would take another decade until regularly scheduled air service would be offered at the Burlington Airport.
