On
March 16, 1912, Barre celebrated a birthday. The local newspaper,
The Barre Times, was turning fifteen years old, and there were plenty
of reasons to celebrate.
Besides
providing the community with valuable news, the Barre Times had
become a renowned news source throughout central Vermont. In fact,
The Barre Times had the largest circulation of any paper in Vermont
other than in the Burlington region, but was even encroaching on
those numbers.
Newspapers
throughout the state congratulated The Barre Times, wishing them
the best of luck as they embarked on their sixteenth year.
