Vermonters
were learning just how fast student populations were increasing
on this day in 1908. Shelburne posted its increases over the previous
school year and the results were astounding.
Shelburne's
high school enrollment was up 91 percent in the fall and 97 percent
in the spring. The grammar school was up 92 percent in the fall
and 93 percent in the spring. Intermediate school checked in at
about the same with 92 and 95 percent growth, and the primary school
reported 94 and 95 percent increases.
Enrollment
now totalled 159 students in Shelburne, nearly twice as many as
the previous year.
