What happens when a member of the rescue team needs rescuing?

The Vermont State Guard found Sgt. Julius Paulus, also known as "Joe-Joe," on this morning in 1944.

Sgt. Paulus had been on Camel's Hump helping with the rescue and clean-up from the October 16th Camel's Hump crash of a B-24 that claimed nine lives.

Sgt. Paulus wandered away from his Air Corps rescue team and got lost. Nobody noticed he was missing until roll call that night in Montpelier.

The Vermont State Guard began a search, and found him in the morning on the Duxbury side of the mountain. Sgt. Paulus was in perfectly good health, and had simply wandered back into the vicinity of the wrecked bomber.
