| Thomas Jefferson Cree was born on
this day in 1806. When he was 27 years old he married Ann Stone
of Cabot and moved to Wheelock.
Cree was a carpenter and joiner, which were skills that came in
handy as he set about building his bride a new home. Cree would
spend the rest of his life in Wheelock, and he would serve the community
well.
Among his many jobs, Cree was town moderator, lister, town treasurer
and town agent. Cree represented Wheelock in the Legislature, both
in the house, and later in the senate Cree was also a member of
the Constitutional Convention of 1857.
He passed away in Wheelock in 1880.
